Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of outing class activities as a nature-based learning innovation for fourth-grade students at Sekolah Dasar Unggulan (SDU) Sang Cipta Rasa. The research highlights the need to move beyond classroom-based theory by utilizing the natural environment as an engaging learning resource. Nature-based learning through outing classes is expected to enhance students’ understanding, skills, and attitudes toward the environment. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, the subjects were fourth-grade teachers and students. Data collection techniques included participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, with data validity ensured through triangulation. The findings show that outing class activities were well implemented and had a positive impact on learning. The process involved careful planning, outdoor exploration, and follow-up discussions. Teachers actively facilitated the learning, resulting in increased student motivation, deeper understanding through direct experience, and the development of critical and social skills. Challenges included time limitations and weather conditions, which required flexible adjustments. In conclusion, outing class activities are an effective nature-based learning method that supports meaningful and holistic education. The study recommends continued integration of outing classes into the curriculum to maximize student potential.
